UN is one of the new suburbs of Madina Zongo. It has relatively a mixture of both Muslims and non-Muslims alike residents. The vicinity, however, is largely Muslim dominated. The land on which the mosque is built was bought by Hajia Maryam and her brother Alhaji Abdul-Razak for the sake of Allah. The mosque was built by The Late Mr. Kabiru Yussif popularly known as Mr. K in October 2017. Mr. K died in October 31, 2017 (May the Almighty Allah grant him Jannah). The mosque has an intake capacity of 1,000 worshippers and has an Islamic education (Madrassa) centre on its premises where the children and young adult in the neigbourhood attend for their Islamic education.

The mosque is led by Sheikh(Imam) Husein Iddriss. Imam Husein Iddriss was born on October 10,1979, and had his middle school in Kpandai in the northern region of Ghana. He attended Islamic Research Institute, Nima, Accra after which he gained admission to further his studies at the University of Ummul-Qura, Mecca, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Sheikh Husein Iddriss studied linguistics for the first three years of admission and went further to pursue a first degree program in Linguistics and Education in the same institution.
